This week was our Leadership Academy for the district. One of our speakers was Scott McCleod with CASTLE (Center for the Advancement of Technology Leadership in Education). (You can find his website on dangerouslyirrelevant.org.)

Okay the reason I bring up Mr. McLeod is because of something he said in one of his sessions. Mr. McLeod noted that educators need to be apart of/active in the 21st century technology information multiconnected exchange (blogs, tweets, nings, etc.). One, if we are just using technology to look stuff up or buy a shirt on line, we are limiting our knowledge base. If we become members of the 21st technology users, not only does our resources expand but this multi-connection of sharing information broadens our knowledge, our ability to synthesize, our ability to problem-solve, our ability to be creative, etc. Well there was a lot more...and it was great...and very valid. But back to why I brought this up, this really connected with my last blog about not actively going outside my usually niches and connections to share what I learn, what others have learned, and where we are going. I mean personally, I prefer sitting at La Madeleine's with a group of colleagues sharing information, best practices, concerns, accomplishments, etc. We are from various districts, various experiences, various professional assignments...and so we are quite a professional learning community. But the resources and avenues provided through technology will broaden my professional learning community...making a me a better leader and a better role model.
Well these are my ramblings for this late Friday evening. I hope you enjoyed my rambling connections to McLeod and our topic from last week's assignment.
